Politics and Jollof is a monthly fellowship that brings young Christians together in a relaxed setting for real conversations about politics, governance, national transformation, and the role of believers in shaping Nigeria's future.
Held on the last Friday of every month, the gathering uses jollof rice, known for its blend of ingredients, as a metaphor for the dialogue it fosters: a rich mix of views, denominations, and lived experiences, united by mutual respect, shared purpose and a hot plate of Jollof rice to go with at the end of the session.
Rooted in the belief that real political change often starts in informal, heartfelt conversations rather than formal chambers, the initiative takes the idea that “bar room politics is the real politics” and gives it a spiritual home. It’s a table where Christians can eat, speak, and dream together for the good of the nation.

June 2025 — Democracy: Fact, Fiction, or Fluke?
We opened the conversations with a question many Nigerians whisper but rarely say out loud: is democracy actually working for us, or are we just going through the motions? Guests weighed in on what genuine democratic participation looks like, whether Nigeria’s version measures up, and what it would take to make the promise of democracy real for the average citizen.
July 2025 — Why Border with Development When Doom Is Shore?
A candid look at a question many young Nigerians are asking quietly: why invest energy in building something when the country feels like it’s falling apart anyway? This edition explored where cynicism ends and responsibility begins, and why choosing to build, even when the odds look grim, might be one of the most important decisions of our generation.
August 2025 — Rethinking Christian Participation Ahead of 2027
With the 2027 general election drawing closer, this edition turned toward strategy. We asked what active, intentional Christian participation in politics could look like beyond prayer and commentary, and started mapping out the steps, alliances, and agenda items that could shape a credible Christian voice in the next election cycle.
September 2025 — End Christian Killings: Deliberating, Praying, Rising, and Walking for Peace
One of our most personal editions yet. We made space to grieve, pray, and talk honestly about the ongoing killings of Christians in parts of Nigeria. Beyond conversation, the gathering doubled as a call to action, tying into our #EndChristianKillings movement and the prayer walks pushing for a safer Nigeria for everyone.
October 2025 — Restructuring Nigeria: Can Nigeria Work as It Is?
Can Nigeria work as it currently is, or does the structure itself need to change? This edition dug into the restructuring debate, from fiscal federalism to state creation to resource control, and asked what a Nigeria that genuinely works for all its regions might actually require.
November 2025 — No Christian Genocide vs. CPCN Gun-a-blazing
A sharp, sometimes uncomfortable conversation about how Nigeria’s security crisis gets talked about. We looked at the competing narratives around violence against Christians, the politics behind the headlines, and how easily fact gets tangled up with propaganda.

January 2026 — After the Amen: What's Next?
Starting the year with a question we keep coming back to: after we’ve prayed, what next? This edition explored what it looks like for Christian youth to move from prayer to political strategy, and how to build practical influence heading into the 2027 election.
February 2026 — Petroism vs. Survival
The “japa” conversation, reframed. Is choosing to leave Nigeria for greener pastures an act of self-love, or a quiet betrayal of the country we say we love? This edition didn’t pretend there’s an easy answer, but it gave both sides of the table room to make their case.
March 2026 — The Christian Running Mate Conversation in 2027
With 2027 in view, we tackled a question already stirring debate: when it comes to picking a running mate, should shared faith matter more than proven competence? A lively back and forth on identity, representation, and what actually makes a good leader.
April 2026 — Godfatherism
Godfatherism runs deep in Nigerian politics, for better or worse. This edition asked whether it’s the engine that gets good candidates into position, or the very thing keeping capable leaders locked out. No easy consensus, but plenty to think about.
May 2026 — The Deception Epidemic: Democratic Right or Shameless Opportunism?
A conversation about the line between political maneuvering and outright deception. From defections to double-speak, we asked whether some of Nigeria’s most common political tactics are simply the price of democracy, or a level of dishonesty we should stop excusing.
